Lindsay Adler
I feel like I’ve always been a photographer— I’ve had a business now for more than half of my life! Photography began as a way to spend time with the women in my family who were nearly all hobbyist photographers. It very quickly became a central focus of my energy and creativity, and by age 15 I had started my own business.
My style is clean, bold, and graphic. I utilize precise lighting and bold colors to reinforce each shoot concept. I strive to portray every subject with strength and elegance, whether a portrait, fashion client or commercial campaign.
Many photographers ask about the big break or big opportunity that changed my career, but there was none! It has just been many smalls steps over and over again for 2 decades that have allowed me to keep climbing.
I began photographing portraits during high school and college. After college, I set my sights on fashion photography, which eventually morphed into more of a focus on beauty photography.
If you look at my work it is instantly clear that color is essential to my style, vision, and creative expression. Every color in every image is purposeful, and therefore I can’t leave color management to chance!
Furthermore, many brands I work with need me to be able to accurately represent the color of their products, skin tones, or brand colors.
I’ve worked with a range of brands that have hired me to be creative, even on big commercial jobs. I’ve worked with Aveeno, Allergan, Pat McGrath Labs, UNICEF, Lord Jones, NBC, and dozens of editorial clients (Vanity Fair, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, and more).
I always find this question funny because honestly, I’m just proud to be a successful photographer living and working in one of the world’s most competitive markets. That feels like a pretty huge accomplishment to me!
Other accomplishments would be becoming a Canon Explorer of Light and having written multiple best-selling books!
I have been teaching photographers how to embrace their passion (and thrive) both creatively and technically for almost 15 years. I find shooting helps to fuel my education but even better, educating helps to fuel my shooting. I’m a MUCH better photographer today because I teach and share— it always pushes me to dive deeper, learn more, and come up with new approaches!
